Gachibowli Police Arrest Two University of Hyderabad Students After Campus Brawl

Gachibowli police on Friday arrested two students from the University of Hyderabad following a violent brawl near the North Shopping Complex on the university campus. The arrests came a few days after the conclusion of the UoH Students’ Union elections.
According to the police, two separate cases were registered based on complaints lodged by research scholar Akash Kumar and student Kamal. The two arrested students have been identified as Akash Bhati and Mohit.
Inspector K Saidulu confirmed that two cases were registered following the complaints and both accused individuals were taken into custody. In his formal complaint, Akash Kumar stated that he was walking with his friends when Akash Bhati called out to him. Kumar alleged that Bhati then attempted to strangle him with a belt. The confrontation was halted after other students and university security personnel intervened to separate the two.
Following the initial clash, Kumar went to the police station to file a complaint. During this time, Bhati allegedly picked up an iron stand and assaulted another student, identified as Barasia Gosh. Gosh sustained injuries in the attack and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police registered a First Information Report regarding the incident and subsequently arrested Bhati. In the second case, Kamal alleged that Mohit assaulted him during the course of the altercation, prompting Gachibowli police to arrest Mohit as well.
