Four Hyderabad Residents Killed in Bus-Car Crash on Vijayawada Highway

Four people were killed and one person sustained critical injuries early on Sunday morning after a speeding private bus rammed into a car on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway near Peddakaparthi village in the Chityal mandal of Nalgonda district.

The victims, who were residing in Hyderabad, were travelling in the car from Chennai to Hyderabad when the crash occurred. According to the local police, an Odisha-based private bus belonging to Arshiya Travels struck their vehicle from behind. The high-speed impact of the collision completely crushed the car, killing four of its occupants on the spot.

The driver of the car, identified as V.V. Prasad, survived the crash but sustained critical injuries. Emergency responders and police shifted Prasad to the Kamineni Hospital in Narketpally, where he was admitted for medical treatment.

The deceased passengers have been identified as Prasad’s wife, his son, his daughter, and a friend. Police officials confirmed their identities and residential status after recovering identity documents from the scene of the accident. While they were residing in Hyderabad, the victims were originally natives of Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.

Following the collision, rescue teams arrived at the site on the national highway. The rescue teams had to utilize a crane to remove the mangled remains of the crushed car in order to retrieve the bodies of the victims. Once recovered from the wreckage, the bodies were sent to the Government General Hospital in Nalgonda for post-mortem examinations.

The severe accident briefly disrupted the flow of traffic on the busy national highway. Police personnel, alongside National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) staff, worked to clear the vehicle debris and eventually restored normal traffic conditions.

The local police have registered a case regarding the incident, and an investigation is currently underway.
