Four Booked for Selling Newborn Boy for Rs 2 Lakh in Red Hills

The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force and the Nampally police special team on Thursday registered cases against four people, including a 36-year-old diagnostic centre manager, for allegedly trafficking and selling a newborn boy for Rs 2 lakh through a clinic in Red Hills.
According to Nampally Inspector Ch. Saidulu, the accused manager, identified as Salim, operated Quality Clinic from a cellar room in Aruna Apartments, located opposite the MNJ Cancer Hospital in Red Hills. Investigators alleged that Salim used the clinic as a front to facilitate the illegal purchase and sale of infants with the assistance of female associates.
The trafficking came to light after police received specific intelligence regarding the transaction involving the infant boy. Police teams subsequently traced and rescued the child.
Investigators stated that Salim and two women negotiated the Rs 2 lakh transaction to hand over the baby to another woman. Instead of adhering to standard legal adoption procedures, the transfer was documented through a notarised agreement.
Following the rescue operation, police officials shifted the infant to the state-run Shishu Vihar for care and protection.
Police said that legal action is being initiated against Salim, his alleged accomplices, the biological mother who agreed to sell the child, and the woman who purchased the newborn. Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the transaction and the specific roles played by each person involved.
