Four Arrested in Rajendranagar for Rs 1 Crore Hidden Treasure Scam

The Commissioner’s Task Force (Shamshabad zone), in coordination with the Rajendranagar police, arrested four men for allegedly cheating 11 people across Hyderabad of approximately Rs 1 crore by claiming they could locate 'Gupta Nidhulu' or hidden treasure buried beneath residential properties.

The arrested accused have been identified as Mohd Munawar (36), Syed Ali Ashraf (40), Mohd Haji (25), and Mohd Salman (29). According to the police, Munawar devised the scheme to earn easy money and enlisted his associates to carry out the operation.

Police said the gang targeted residents by convincing them that they possessed special knowledge to identify hidden treasure buried beneath their houses. After gaining permission to dig up portions of the victims' premises, the accused dug pits and secretly planted sacks containing coal and duplicate gold-coated coins.

The gang then allegedly told the property owners that the coal would eventually turn into gold over time, after which they collected large sums of money and left the location.

Following the arrest, police seized two cars, one autorickshaw, two motorcycles, four mobile phones, 25 fake gold coins, 6 kg of coal, 4 kg of soil, and pooja material used in the crime.

A criminal case has been registered at the Rajendranagar police station under Sections 318(4), 351(2), and 61(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police stated that an investigation into the matter is currently under way.
