Former UoH Student Arrested with Marijuana on Campus in Gachibowli

The Gachibowli Police, operating in conjunction with the Eagle Team, arrested a former University of Hyderabad student on the university campus in Gachibowli on Tuesday in connection with a drug supply case. The arrested suspect was identified by law enforcement as 28-year-old Biswajit Kalita, who is also known by the alias Biswa. During the operation on the campus grounds, police officers seized 5 grams of marijuana directly from his possession.

The suspect, Biswajit Kalita, previously attended the University of Hyderabad as a student. He is currently residing in the neighboring locality of Gopanpally, where he earns his living working as an actor trainer. According to officials from the Gachibowli Police Station, Kalita was reportedly absconding after being booked earlier in connection with a drug case registered by the local police.

The legal proceedings in this matter trace back to August 7, when Gachibowli Police formally registered a case after receiving credible information concerning drug consumption inside the Men’s-L Hostel on the University of Hyderabad campus.

During the subsequent investigation conducted by law enforcement into the hostel drug consumption report, a student allegedly confessed to police officers that he had purchased 10 grams of dried ganja for Rs 500 from Kalita, whom he described as his friend.

Following the receipt of this crucial information from the student during the investigation, the Gachibowli Police and the Eagle Team collaborated to trace Kalita's whereabouts. The joint law enforcement team tracked him to the University of Hyderabad campus on Tuesday, where they apprehended him and seized 5 grams of marijuana.

With Kalita now in custody, Gachibowli Police are actively probing the source of the ganja supply to identify how the illicit drugs were obtained. Furthermore, police investigators are looking into the possible involvement of other persons in the drug network operating around the campus.
