Former OSD to Minister Konda Surekha and Five Others Booked for Assault

Police have registered a case against the former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Endowments Minister Konda Surekha and five others after a 36-year-old real estate businessman from Boduppal was allegedly assaulted with iron rods and sticks.

The Medipally police initially registered a zero FIR based on a complaint lodged by the victim, Gongidi Harikrishna, before transferring the case to the Jubilee Hills police station on jurisdictional grounds.

According to the police, the incident occurred after Harikrishna received a phone call on July 30 from the former OSD, identified as Sumanth, asking him to meet urgently. Following the call, Harikrishna went to the office of a person named Ramu at around 9:45 pm, accompanied by his friend Kiran.

During the meeting, Sumanth reportedly questioned Harikrishna regarding allegations of collecting money using his name. When Harikrishna denied the claims, Sumanth allegedly verbally abused him and attacked him with an iron rod, striking his hands and legs. Harikrishna further stated that Sumanth instigated his associates, who then joined in the physical assault.

The victim sustained a fracture to his left hand, bleeding injuries, and several other wounds during the attack. He was initially shifted to Gandhi Hospital for emergency medical attention. Harikrishna subsequently underwent medical treatment at hospitals in Chengicherla and Uppal, where he underwent surgery on August 10.

Explaining the delay in approaching law enforcement authorities, the complainant stated that he was undergoing medical treatment and was living in fear of the suspects.

Following the complaint, police booked Sumanth, Ramu, Prashanth, Arun Kumar Reddy, Karthik, and Mahender Reddy, along with other unidentified individuals. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
