Former BRS MLA Rega Kanta Rao Arrested in Bengaluru Over Sexual Harassment Case

Former BRS MLA Rega Kanta Rao has been arrested in Bengaluru in connection with a sexual harassment and cheating case registered at the Punjagutta police station in Hyderabad.

The arrest followed a complaint by a woman who alleged that Kanta Rao cheated her after promising to marry her. According to the complaint, the former legislator called her to a plot under the pretext of setting up a YouTube channel for her, where he allegedly assaulted her.

The complainant further accused Rao of blackmailing her using her private photographs. She also alleged that he cheated her of ₹4 lakh under the guise of a real estate deal.

Based on her allegations, the Panjagutta police registered a case against Rao. While sources indicate he was apprehended in Bengaluru, police officials have yet to make a formal announcement regarding the arrest.
