Food Safety Violations Found at Barbeque Nation and Chinese Wok in Madeenaguda

On Monday, June 29, 2026, the food safety wing of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) conducted inspections at the Barbeque Nation and Chinese Wok restaurants located in the Madeenaguda area of Hyderabad. The inspections revealed multiple hygiene, sanitation, and food safety violations at both eating joints.
At Barbeque Nation, officials discovered that several food items were being stored without any labels. The unlabelled products included brownies and kulfi in pan, malai, and kesar pista flavours. Because these items lacked proper labelling, the food safety team discarded them on the spot.
In addition to the unlabelled food, the inspection team noted that Barbeque Nation lacked several mandatory records. The restaurant was unable to produce any documentation regarding food testing, packaging material standards, or pest control measures.
The physical infrastructure of the kitchen also raised concerns. Inspectors found that the vegetable crates and water bubble containers were unclean, and the restaurant was instructed to replace this equipment immediately. The chopping boards used by staff were in poor condition. Furthermore, the officials observed a cockroach infestation in the fruit storage area and near the refrigerators.
Meanwhile, the inspection at Chinese Wok revealed that the restaurant had assigned a shelf life of 36 hours to cooked rice. This shelf life was given without any supporting laboratory validation to ensure its safety for consumption.
The Chinese Wok outlet also failed to maintain essential compliance documentation. The management could not produce records for food testing, packaging materials, or the mandatory annual medical fitness certificates for its food handlers.
Several hygiene lapses were noted in the food preparation area of Chinese Wok. Inspectors found that eggs were being used in dishes without being cleaned first. One of the food handlers was observed to have untrimmed nails. Additionally, the water taps located near the rice and noodles preparation area were found to be unclean.
