Food Safety Teams Find Major Violations At Kompally, Malkajgiri, And Nagole Outlets

Food safety teams from the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) conducted inspections at retail stores and a restaurant in Kompally, Malkajgiri, and Nagole, uncovering multiple hygiene and food safety violations. The inspections targeted the Reliance Retail Limited Store in Kompally, the Zepto Store in Malkajgiri, and Lucky Restaurant in Nagole.
During the inspection at the Reliance Retail Limited Store in Kompally, CMC officials awarded the establishment 128 marks out of 165. The team observed that disposable products and sale stock were not segregated properly. Furthermore, inspectors discovered 14 expired Cuppa Oats boxes, one packet of Blue Bird Veg Jelly Crystals, and six 10-kilogram bags of Fortune Sona Masoori Rice. The store was also found to have pest-infested Suji (Upma Rava), while loose rice, suji, pulses, spices, and millets were kept in open bins without lids, posing a risk of contamination.
At the Zepto Store in Malkajgiri, MMC food safety officials observed highly unhygienic conditions. Food items were stored directly on the floor, and the flooring itself was patchy and unclean. Food handlers at the facility were found working without aprons and gloves. Additionally, the store had a heavy housefly infestation throughout the establishment, and waste materials were not being removed regularly.
The inspection at Lucky Restaurant in Nagole revealed further violations. Authorities discovered houseflies in the sauce and ice cream, which were immediately discarded. Boiled chicken was found stored in the freezer without proper labeling, and vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items were stored together. Food safety officials collected food samples from the restaurant and sent them to a laboratory for analysis.
Inspectors at the restaurant also noted that rusted and unhygienic storage racks were being used to store biscuits and bread. Newspapers were being used to cover food items like samosas. The restaurant's store room was also deemed unhygienic, with food items scattered across the floor and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling.
