Five Cobras Rescued in Shalibanda and Moghalpura During Naga Panchami

Volunteers from the Greater Hyderabad Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GHSPCA) and People For Animals (PFA) rescued five cobras from the Shalibanda and Moghalpura neighbourhoods of Hyderabad during the Naga Panchami festival.

The rescue operations yielded three cobras from Shalibanda and two from Moghalpura. Around 35 volunteers from both GHSPCA and PFA participated in the city-wide rescue and awareness campaign during the festival.

Following their retrieval, all five reptiles were transported to Vishva’s Pet Clinic, where they underwent medical examinations conducted by Dr. Vishva Chaitanya. Following the assessments, two of the cobras were declared fit for immediate release into their natural habitat.

The remaining three snakes required medical attention. Two cobras were placed under medical observation and require roughly 10 days of care, while one cobra remains in critical condition under intensive care.

GHSPCA highlighted a growing and encouraging shift in public awareness during the operations, noting that local residents proactively alerted rescue volunteers instead of harming the snakes.
