Five Arrested After Charminar Youth Jumps to Death Over Bike Repair Dispute

Masab Tank police have arrested five persons in connection with the death of Mir Sofiyan Ali alias Adil, a 24-year-old private employee from NAB Chowni near Charminar, who jumped from a seventh-floor apartment building following an altercation over payment for a damaged motorcycle.

The incident took place in the early hours of August 20 at a seven-storeyed apartment building in First Lancer. Ali jumped from the terrace following an argument with the accused and succumbed to his injuries later that same day while undergoing treatment at Osmania General Hospital.

Police initially registered a suspicious death case based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father. A subsequent investigation revealed that Ali had borrowed a motorcycle belonging to Md Hanzala Pasha, 24, a private employee residing in First Lancer, and his friend Md Isaquddin, 25, a businessman, a few weeks earlier. The vehicle was later damaged in a road accident.

The damaged motorcycle remained parked at Ali’s residence as Pasha and Isaquddin demanded that he either repair it or pay for the required repairs before handing it back. On the night of August 19, their friend Mustafa summoned Ali to Pasha’s apartment to address the matter.

According to Asifnagar ACP K Srinivas, Ali went to the terrace, where Pasha, Isaquddin, Mustafa, Md Nawaaz, and Md Imran confronted him over the pending payment. When Ali cited his financial difficulties, the accused allegedly dismissed his pleas, after which Ali jumped from the terrace.

Police arrested all five accused on Friday under Sections 108 (abetment of suicide) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The arrested individuals are being produced before a court for judicial remand.
