FIFA-AIFF Telangana Football Academy Inaugurated at Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad
The FIFA-AIFF Telangana Academy for boys and girls was officially inaugurated at the Gachibowli Stadium Complex in Hyderabad on Friday, 20 June 2026. This newly established sports facility represents a highly significant initiative in Indian football’s youth talent development ecosystem.
The academy was inaugurated by Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla alongside Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The joint presence of both the Governor and the Chief Minister at the Gachibowli Stadium Complex highlighted the state's support for the new football development project.
Located within the Gachibowli Stadium Complex, the academy will provide year-round high-performance training specifically tailored for the young talent of Indian football. To ensure a comprehensive development environment, the facility is set to offer residential facilities, education, medical care, nutrition, and mental wellness support to all its young athletes.
According to an official release from the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the programs at the new academy carry unique distinctions. The boys’ programme established at the Hyderabad facility is only the second such project of its kind in the entire country, following a similar setup in Bhubaneswar.
The girls’ programme at the academy is even more historic for the nation. The AIFF stated that the girls' programme is the first of its kind in India. Globally, it represents only the second such program of its kind in the world, with the first being located in Hong Kong.
The creation of the FIFA-AIFF Telangana Talent Academy was achieved through a multi-organizational partnership. Developed under FIFA’s international Talent Development Scheme, the academy's establishment was made possible through a direct collaboration between FIFA, the AIFF, the Government of Telangana, and the Sports Authority of Telangana.
This joint effort is designed to create a sustainable pathway for young male and female football players in the region, offering them world-class training and support services directly within Hyderabad.
