FIEO and ICICI Bank to Host Customs Awareness Programme in Hyderabad on October 9

FIEO and ICICI Bank to Host Customs Awareness Programme in Hyderabad on October 9

The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) is organising an awareness programme on customs facilitation measures and regulatory compliance for exporters in Hyderabad on October 9. Organised in association with ICICI Bank, the session is titled 'Customs Schemes for Exporters: Benefits, Procedures and Compliances', according to information released by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The programme is designed to assist exporters, manufacturers, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and other trade stakeholders in understanding international trade procedures. The discussions will place special emphasis on benefits, eligibility criteria, documentation, and compliance requirements associated with various government customs initiatives.

Key topics on the agenda include an overview of customs facilitation for exporters, the role of customs authorities in export promotion, electronic customs procedures via the ICEGATE platform, the risk management system, and faceless assessment frameworks. Attendees will also receive guidance on digital customs services.

The session will detail several duty-free import schemes, including Advance Authorisation and Duty Free Import Authorisation (DFIA), outlining their specific conditions, application steps, and necessary documentation. The Export Promotion Capital Goods (EPCG) Scheme will also be addressed, covering zero and concessional customs duty on capital goods imports, related export obligations, and compliance criteria.

Organisers have also included special customs procedures such as bonded manufacturing and warehousing, exports under bond or Letter of Undertaking (LUT), and customs warehousing provisions. In addition, the Eligible Manufacturer Scheme and Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) customs facilitation will be explained to outline procedural requirements and benefits for compliant businesses.

Customs compliance procedures will form a major part of the discussions, covering shipping bills, supporting paperwork, product classification, valuation, country-of-origin rules, record keeping, audits, and common errors that trigger penalties. Senior officials from the Customs Commissionerate, Hyderabad, will deliver presentations and address practical procedural queries from participants, while bank officials will speak on relevant financial opportunities.

Unnikrishnan K, Joint Director General of FIEO, stated that the programme aims to give participants practical insights into customs schemes and support a clearer understanding of the procedures and documentation needed to make effective use of available facilities.
