Father and Son Electrocuted in Paddy Field at Gagaram Village in Bhupalpally

A 45-year-old farmer and his 23-year-old son died due to electrocution in their agricultural fields at Gagaram village in Kataram mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Friday morning. The deceased have been identified by the police as K Bapu, aged 45, and his son K Manoj, aged 23.

The tragic incident occurred while the duo was engaged in routine farming work to supply water to their crops. According to Kataram Circle Inspector E Nagarjuna Rao, Bapu and Manoj had gone to their agricultural fields in the morning hours with the intention of switching on their water pump motor.

While Bapu was in the process of diverting water across the fields, he accidentally came into direct contact with a live electric wire. Upon noticing that his father was in distress and getting electrocuted, Manoj rushed forward in an attempt to save him. However, during the rescue attempt, Manoj also came into contact with the electric current and was electrocuted alongside his father.

The duo was cultivating paddy across six acres of agricultural land in the village. To power the irrigation system, they had previously laid electrical wires underground in their fields and connected the line directly to the water motor. As the agricultural fields were filled with water at the time, police suspect that the presence of the water and the exposed live electrical wire led to the fatal electrocution of both individuals.

The incident came to light when neighbouring farmers noticed Bapu and Manoj lying in an unconscious state near their water pump. The local farmers immediately alerted the family members of the victims and informed the Kataram police about the tragedy.

Police officials reached the spot following the alert. A case has been registered by the Kataram police, and the bodies of Bapu and Manoj were shifted to the Mahadevpur mandal government hospital for postmortem procedures.
