Farmer killed near Asifabad Road railway station after refusing money for liquor

A 65-year-old farmer was hacked to death and beheaded near the Asifabad Road railway station in Rebbena, located in the Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district, on Friday afternoon. The victim, identified as M Somaiah, was allegedly killed by a local butcher after refusing to give him money for liquor.

The incident took place at around 12:30 PM when Somaiah was walking back to the railway station after having tea. The accused, 40-year-old B Nagesh, reportedly stopped the farmer on the road and attacked him, severing his head before fleeing the scene.

Somaiah was a resident of Parasnambal village in the Asifabad mandal. On Thursday, he and his wife, Karunabai, had traveled to Nambala village in Rebbena mandal to visit their younger daughter's home.

The couple wanted to see both of their daughters, as their elder daughter, who works as a labourer in Hyderabad, was also visiting Nambala village. Karunabai confirmed the details of their visit to the local police, stating that they had arrived on Thursday to spend time with their children.

On Friday morning, the family made their way to the Asifabad Road railway station in Rebbena. The elder daughter was scheduled to board a train to return to Hyderabad. Somaiah, Karunabai, and their younger daughter all went to the railway station to see her off.

While the family was waiting for the train to arrive, Somaiah decided to step outside the station to have a cup of tea. After finishing his tea, he began walking back toward the railway station, which was when he was confronted by Nagesh.

Following the attack, the police launched an investigation and managed to arrest Nagesh later on Friday. On Saturday, the accused was officially remanded in judicial custody.
