Family of brain-dead student K Kiran Kumar saves four lives through organ donation

The family of 23-year-old student K Kiran Kumar, who was declared brain dead on Monday, June 29, 2026, following a road accident in Medippally, has donated his organs to save the lives of four patients under the state-run Jeevandan programme.
Kiran Kumar, a resident of Alampally in Narayanpet, was pursuing his Master of Arts in English from City College in Hyderabad. The fatal sequence of events began on Thursday, June 25, 2026, when the young student was travelling on a two-wheeler. During his journey, he was hit by a car in the Medippally area.
Immediately after the collision, his family members rushed to the scene and shifted him to a local hospital for preliminary medical attention. Looking for better medical care and advanced treatment options, the family later shifted him to a private hospital located in Hyderabad.
At the private medical facility, the youngster was placed under emergency treatment. Despite the continuous efforts of the medical team, his health condition did not show any signs of improvement. The doctors monitoring his condition officially declared him brain dead on Monday, June 29, 2026.
In the wake of this declaration, the mother of the victim, K Yellamma, and his brother, K Anil, made the decision to donate his organs. Their choice to support the state-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative directly helped four patients who were in urgent need of transplants.
The family consented to the donation of four vital organs, which consisted of two kidneys, one liver, and one heart.
Jeevandan Telangana extended its deep gratitude and appreciation to K Yellamma, K Anil, and the rest of K Kiran Kumar's family. The state-run programme commended their noble and heartfelt decision, which managed to save four lives.
