Fake WhatsApp Account Impersonating HMWSSB MD Ashok Reddy Detected

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has issued a public warning regarding a fake WhatsApp account created using the name and photograph of its Managing Director, Ashok Reddy.

According to the board, unidentified individuals have been using a foreign mobile number beginning with the country code +84 to send messages impersonating Ashok Reddy. The water board indicated that the messages might start with casual greetings before being used to seek money or solicit financial transactions.

Ashok Reddy urged the public not to trust messages sent from unknown numbers that display his name or photograph. He advised citizens against transferring money or sharing one-time passwords (OTPs) and personal bank details with these contacts.

The HMWSSB stated that individuals who receive suspicious messages should avoid responding and should instead block and report the number. The board emphasised that any request for money or financial transactions made in the Managing Director's name must be independently verified through official board channels.
