Excise Officials Seize 13 Defence Liquor Bottles at Kacheguda Railway Station

The Prohibition and Excise Department officials in Hyderabad conducted a surprise inspection on Monday, June 29, 2026, which resulted in the seizure of 13 bottles of defence liquor. The excise operation took place on the AP Sampark Kranti Express while the train was stationed at the Kacheguda Railway Station.
During the detailed search of the train, the enforcement team discovered the 13 bottles of DPL Defence liquor. This specific type of liquor is reserved exclusively for defence personnel. Further inquiry by the excise officials established that the seized bottles had originated from the state of Karnataka.
Because the items were found completely unattended on the train, officials made inquiries among the passengers in the vicinity. However, no person came forward to claim ownership of the bottles of DPL Defence liquor. Consequently, the Prohibition and Excise officials seized the entire batch of 13 bottles as unclaimed property.
The department officials suspect that the individuals responsible for transporting the liquor were indeed on board the train. It is believed that upon noticing the surprise inspection being conducted by the excise team at the Kacheguda Railway Station, the suspects panicked and fled the scene, leaving the illegal cargo behind to avoid being caught by the authorities.
Following the successful seizure of the contraband, the Excise Department registered a formal criminal case against unknown persons. This case has been officially filed under charges related to the illegal transportation of liquor.
An active investigation has been launched by the Prohibition and Excise officials. The primary objective of the ongoing probe is to identify the unknown individuals who abandoned the DPL Defence liquor bottles and to determine how the consignment was brought from Karnataka into Hyderabad. Officials are continuing their efforts to track down the suspects.
