Excise Officials Bust Illegal YouTube-Taught Wine Unit in Neredmet, Seize 377 Litres

Excise officials from the Malkajgiri District Task Force (DTF) have busted an illegal homemade wine manufacturing unit in Neredmet, Hyderabad. The raid resulted in the arrest of a retired man who allegedly learned how to brew wine by watching tutorials on YouTube.
The accused, identified as Antony Peter, had been running the illegal manufacturing operation for nearly a year before law enforcement officials intervened. During the raid, the Malkajgiri DTF seized 377.7 litres of homemade wine along with 502 bottles. The total value of the seized stock is estimated to be approximately ₹1.5 lakh.
Investigating officials revealed that Peter was producing seven distinct varieties of fruit wine at his unit. He packaged the illicit alcohol into 750-ml bottles and sold them to customers for ₹300 per bottle.
The distribution of the illegal homemade wine was not limited to Neredmet. According to officials, Peter's sales network extended to several neighbouring areas, including Secunderabad, NHO, and Kapra.
Following the successful raid and seizure of the contraband, the Malkajgiri DTF took the accused into custody. Peter and the seized wine bottles were subsequently handed over to the Kapra Excise Station for further legal action.
