Ex-IPS Officer's Son Booked For Cheating Film Producer In Jubilee Hills

The Jubilee Hills police have registered a criminal case against Mohsin Khan, the son of former Hyderabad Police Commissioner AK Khan, and his associate Tabrez for allegedly cheating, intimidating, and assaulting a film producer over an investment dispute. The complainant, Venkata Anish Reddy, filed the complaint following an incident at the Sunlit Group office in Prashasan Nagar, Jubilee Hills.

According to the police, Reddy has been producing the film 'Maharagni' for more than two years. While searching for financial backers for the project, he approached Mohsin Khan and Tabrez.

In August 2025, Mohsin allegedly assured Reddy that he would introduce potential investors to the project and collected Rs 25 lakh for his services. Tabrez allegedly received an additional Rs 25 lakh, paid across three installments, under the same promise.

Despite receiving a total of Rs 50 lakh, the accused allegedly failed to introduce any investors or return the money. Reddy claimed that whenever he requested updates or demanded a refund, the duo delayed the matter with various explanations.

The dispute escalated on July 1, when Reddy visited the Sunlit Group office to demand either the promised investors or a refund. Reddy alleged that Mohsin took him into a room, threatened him, and physically restrained him.

The complainant further alleged that bouncers present at the office intimidated him by displaying weapons and assaulted him, during which Mohsin allegedly punched him. Tabrez was also allegedly involved in the confrontation via a phone call with Mohsin.

Following the complaint, the Jubilee Hills police booked Mohsin, Tabrez, and several unidentified others. Mohsin is also the son-in-law of senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter. Officers are currently examining the allegations and are expected to record statements from the accused and other witnesses as part of the ongoing probe.
