Electoral Roll Revision Delays Hit Madhapur and Malkajgiri Areas

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls faced significant delays on Saturday, June 27, 2026, as the distribution of enumeration forms progressed at a slow pace across Hyderabad's 15 Assembly constituencies, including Madhapur, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), and the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC). According to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials, the sluggish start on the revision's third day was driven by transportation hurdles and widespread weekend absenteeism among local residents.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were notably less visible throughout the 15 constituencies on Saturday. While the officers were expected to commence their door-to-door enumeration work at 9:00 AM, there was still no clarity on when the activity would begin even after half the day had passed.

GHMC sources involved with the SIR process explained that although explicit directions had been issued to the concerned officers to distribute the electoral forms across all wards, logistics proved to be a major obstacle. In certain areas, BLOs could not access the local ward offices where the physical electoral forms were stocked. Consequently, they were unable to lift the forms for distribution, stalling the process at the grassroots level.

In addition to transport issues, resident absenteeism further slowed the campaign. In Madhapur, several BLOs reported that they were unable to distribute the forms because many local employees had already left the city for the weekend. These residents had either traveled to their native hometowns or visited various temple towns, leaving many households empty when officers attempted to make contact. A similar trend of empty homes and delayed distribution was observed in the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) area.

As a result of these combined challenges, the distribution of electoral forms has yet to pick up momentum in any of the 15 Assembly constituencies within the Hyderabad district, leaving the critical voter registration revision lagging behind schedule.
