Elderly Woman Dies and Two Injured as Tree Falls on Meerpet House

An elderly woman died and two of her family members were injured after a large tree collapsed on their asbestos-roofed house during heavy rains in Raghavendra colony, Meerpet, Hyderabad, on Saturday night, June 13, 2026.

The deceased has been identified as 75-year-old Lakshmi. She was living in the house along with her 30-year-old son, Venkatesh, and 28-year-old Lalitha. The family members are natives of the Nagarkurnool district.

According to reports, the incident occurred while the family was asleep inside their home. Amidst the heavy rainfall in the area, a huge tree collapsed directly onto the asbestos roof of their residence.

The impact of the falling tree caused severe damage to the structure. All three occupants suffered injuries in the collapse, and Lakshmi died on the spot.

The other two family members, Venkatesh and Lalitha, sustained injuries during the collapse and were subsequently rescued and shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.

Following the incident, the local police registered a case and have commenced an investigation.
