Elderly Man Kills Wife With Iron Rod and Commits Suicide in Suryapet

An elderly man killed his wife with an iron rod and subsequently committed suicide at their residence in Gottiparthy of Thungathurthi mandal in Suryapet district. The violent incident took place during the late hours of Wednesday night, and the bodies of the deceased were discovered by neighbours on Thursday morning.

The deceased individuals have been identified by the authorities as 68-year-old Kota Satyanarayana and his wife, 60-year-old Kanaka Lakshmi. Both of them were permanent residents and natives of the Gottiparthy village.

According to the details available, the elderly couple had picked up a heated quarrel inside their house late on Wednesday night over an ongoing family issue. As the argument escalated, Satyanarayana became enraged and attacked his wife Kanaka Lakshmi using an iron rod. Kanaka Lakshmi sustained severe, fatal injuries to her head from the blow and died on the spot.

Immediately after killing his wife, Satyanarayana committed suicide inside the same house.

The entire incident came to light on Thursday morning when neighbours noticed a lack of activity. The couple did not respond to any of the calls made by their neighbours. Concerned by the silence, the neighbours went to the house and opened the window doors to check on them. Upon looking inside, they found both Satyanarayana and Kanaka Lakshmi lying dead.

The deceased couple had two sons and one daughter. However, all three of their children were residing at different places and were not present in the house when the incident occurred.

Following the discovery, the local community informed the police. Upon receiving the information, the Thungathurthi police rushed to the spot to inspect the scene. The police officers recovered the bodies of the couple and shifted them to the local government hospital so that an autopsy could be conducted. The investigation into the case is currently ongoing.
