Elderly Couple Dies by Suicide in Sangareddy's Chapta Village Over Sons' Neglect

An 88-year-old man and his 85-year-old wife died by suicide on Wednesday morning by jumping into an agricultural well in Chapta (K) village of Narayankhed mandal in Sangareddy district, reportedly distressed over abandonment by their sons.
The deceased were identified as Munge Narsareddy, 88, and his wife Anjamma, 85. According to Narayankhed Circle Inspector Srinivas Reddy, the couple had three sons: Siddareddy, Kishtareddy, and Sangareddy. Narsareddy had owned approximately 22 acres of agricultural land and a residential house in the village, all of which he had previously divided and transferred to his three sons.
Following the distribution of the property, the sons allegedly neglected their elderly parents. While one son moved to Hyderabad, the other two continued to reside in Chapta (K) village. Left without care or support, the octogenarian couple was forced to move out and seek shelter at a relative's house in the village.
In an effort to secure a basic livelihood, Narsareddy had approached several administrative authorities, submitting requests from the mandal level up to the district level. He appealed to officials to re-register at least two acres of the transferred farmland back into his name so that the couple could sustain themselves, but his efforts were unsuccessful.
Distressed over their situation, the couple went to their farmland on Wednesday morning and jumped into a well. Both died at the scene.
Following the incident, their grandson, Munge Maruthi Reddy, approached the local authorities and lodged a formal complaint. The Narayankhed police registered a case based on his complaint and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
