ED Books Suspended DSP S Bheem Reddy Over Rs 300-Crore Disproportionate Assets

ED Books Suspended DSP S Bheem Reddy Over Rs 300-Crore Disproportionate Assets

The Directorate of Enforcement has registered a money laundering case against suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police S. Bheem Reddy following the detection of disproportionate assets estimated at around Rs 300 crore. The Anti-Corruption Bureau had previously arrested him on July 6 from his residence at Vessella Meadows in Ibrahimbagh.

Bheem Reddy, who was posted with Police Computer Services, came under scrutiny after extensive investigations and searches conducted by the state anti-corruption agency earlier this year. The central enforcement agency has now initiated an inquiry into the broader financial networks connected to the officer.

Investigators have begun examining the alleged money trail, which includes scrutinising the ownership of various properties, establishing the primary sources of funds used to acquire them, and determining whether real estate and other assets were registered under the names of relatives, associates, or suspected benamidars. The agency is also investigating whether funds generated through alleged corrupt practices were routed through multiple financial channels before being converted into physical assets.

The case stems from searches carried out by the Anti-Corruption Bureau across 16 locations in Telangana and Karnataka. Those raids covered premises linked directly to Bheem Reddy as well as properties tied to his family members and suspected benamidars.

During the search at the suspended officer's residence, investigators recovered property documents along with Rs 3.6 lakh in unaccounted cash. In a simultaneous raid, officials uncovered another Rs 40 lakh in cash from the residence of an individual suspected of acting as a benamidar on his behalf.

The searches further yielded approximately 2 kg of gold, 20 kg of silver, and documented bank account balances amounting to nearly Rs 19.91 lakh across various accounts.

The Enforcement Directorate is expected to issue formal notices to Bheem Reddy once officials complete their preliminary examination of the evidence. Several individuals suspected of functioning as his benamidars are also slated for questioning as the investigation progresses, with further legal action depending on the outcome of the probe.
