ECI Approves 36,353 Polling Stations in Telangana, Adding 32 in Hyderabad

The Election Commission of India has approved the rationalisation of polling stations across Telangana, raising the state's overall count from 35,985 to 36,353 across all 33 districts. Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy announced the update in an official statement on Wednesday, highlighting that Hyderabad has been allocated 32 new polling stations, with significant additions in local areas such as the Bahadurpura Assembly constituency.

A total of 460 new polling stations were proposed across the state as part of the Election Commission's rationalisation drive. Among all 33 districts, Nalgonda recorded the highest number of additions, with 49 new polling stations established across its six assembly constituencies. This brings the total count of voting stations in Nalgonda to 1,861. Hyderabad followed Nalgonda with the second-largest expansion, adding 32 stations to take its district total to 4,094 polling locations.

The additions within Hyderabad were distributed across multiple assembly segments. The Bahadurpura Assembly constituency received the maximum number of new facilities in the city, gaining 18 polling stations to increase its total from 263 to 281.

Other urban constituencies in Hyderabad also experienced adjustments in their voting setup. The Karwan Assembly constituency saw its count go up from 311 to 316 polling stations, while Chandrayangutta's total increased from 305 to 313. In the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly constituency, the official list reflected one additional polling station, raising its total to 232.

Beyond adding new stations, the rationalisation process included several administrative and physical changes to existing voting facilities across Telangana. Out of the state's total polling stations, 551 were designated for a change of location, 335 were scheduled for nomenclature updates, and 92 were identified for deletion or merger.
