EAGLE Force Inspector Urges Public Action Against Drugs at Baghlingampally Event

An Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was held on Wednesday at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar College in Baghlingampally, Hyderabad, to highlight the necessity of collective public action and coordinated law enforcement in combating drug abuse.
Addressing the event, P. Srinivasa Rao, Inspector of the Telangana EAGLE Force, stated that eliminating the menace of drugs requires a coordinated approach involving law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, communities, and citizens. The outreach programme was organized by the Central Bureau of Communication.
Rao explained that the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is based on three key pillars: strict enforcement against drug traffickers, widespread public awareness, and the de-addiction and rehabilitation of those affected by substance abuse. He called upon citizens to remain vigilant and actively support anti-drug initiatives.
According to Rao, drug trafficking is a serious threat to the nation's youth, as traffickers deliberately target young people, particularly students and educational institutions. He emphasized that sustained enforcement by the Telangana police, coupled with actionable public inputs received through the 1908 toll-free helpline, has strengthened efforts to identify, investigate, and dismantle drug trafficking networks across the state.
Earlier in the programme, Shruti Patil, Additional Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), spoke about the government's commitment to building a healthy, safe, and drug-free society. She stated that the Central Bureau of Communication is committed to spreading awareness about the Central government’s flagship programmes.
Patil noted that awareness, prevention, and informed choices are the most effective means to combat drug abuse. She also emphasized the importance of supporting individuals battling addiction and helping them reintegrate into society with dignity.
The speakers urged all participants to actively engage in the campaign and share the knowledge they gained with their families and communities to contribute to the vision of a drug-free India.
