Drunk SUV Driver Kills Ex-Serviceman in Hydershakote Crash

A 47-year-old ex-serviceman was killed and two other people suffered injuries after a drunk driver rammed a Mahindra XUV into two vehicles at Hydershakote early on Monday morning. The fatal road crash took place around 5.30 am while the SUV driver was attempting to overtake an autorickshaw.

The deceased victim was identified as D Ravinder, who was returning to his home after completing his shift as a security guard in Tolichowki. According to K Venkatesham, sub-inspector at the Narsingi police station, the SUV was travelling along the road from Hydershakote towards Chevella when the collision happened.

The Mahindra XUV first hit Ravinder’s scooter, which was coming from the opposite direction, and subsequently collided with another motorcycle after crossing SMP School. Police confirmed that Ravinder died on the spot as a result of severe injuries sustained during the impact. The two individuals riding on the second motorcycle were injured in the crash.

Police apprehended all four individuals present in the vehicle directly from the crime scene. Investigators identified the main accused driver as Veeresh, a food delivery executive. Police stated that Veeresh was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision and has been formally booked under charges of culpable homicide.

The three other passengers travelling inside the vehicle were also taken into custody and booked for abetting the crime. Police identified them as Vikas, who is Veeresh’s brother-in-law, Kranti Goud, the owner of the Mahindra XUV, and a friend named Chandan. Law enforcement authorities charged the three passengers for allowing Veeresh to operate the vehicle despite knowing that he was intoxicated.

According to police statements, all four men were returning to their residences in Sun City when the crash occurred. They had attended a party at a friend’s house located in Hydershakote prior to entering the car and heading towards Chevella.
