Donald Trump Thanks India After Street Named After Him in Nanakramguda

In June 2026, United States President Donald Trump publicly thanked India after a street was named in his honor in the Nanakramguda area of Hyderabad. The unveiling of "Donald Trump Avenue" makes him the first U.S. President to have a street named after him in India. The plaque was officially unveiled by U.S. Envoy to India Serio Gor and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikaramarka.

President Trump shared his appreciation on his TruthSocial network, posting an image of the unveiling ceremony. In his post, he wrote, "The new Donald Trump Avenue in Hyderabad, India — The first U.S. President to ever be honored in this way. Thank you." The social media post was shared two days after the official ceremony in Hyderabad.

The newly named street is located in Nanakramguda, a neighborhood in the western part of Hyderabad. This specific location is highly significant as it houses the official U.S. Consulate offices and is situated in close proximity to several major U.S. information technology and technology firms operating in the city.

The dedication of the street is part of a broader initiative launched by the Telangana state government to name key roads after notable international personalities and corporate entities. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy first rolled out this plan in late 2025 to shift the traditional practice of naming public roads.

Speaking at the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) in November 2025, Chief Minister Reddy had explained the vision behind the initiative. He noted that most roads in India are named after political leaders, and suggested that Hyderabad should change this trend by naming streets after major global corporations like Google, Meta, TCS, or Infosys.

Following this proposal, the plan to establish Donald Trump Avenue was formally spelt out in December 2025. This announcement came just ahead of the two-day 'Telangana Rising Global Summit', which was hosted in a newly carved out plan of the Future City.
