DGP C.V. Anand Forms Panel to Resolve Telangana Police Seniority and Vacancy Dispute

HYDERABAD — Director-General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand issued official orders on June 29 to constitute a six-member committee in Hyderabad to investigate and resolve complaints regarding statewide seniority and vacancy adjustments within the police department. The committee's findings will address a long-standing dispute raised by the 1991 batch of sub-inspectors, with a specific focus on vacancy adjustments in the Warangal Range.

The newly formed committee is headed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) (Personnel). The remaining five members of the panel consist of a Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), and an Officer on Special Duty (OSD).

According to the orders issued by the DGP, the panel was established to examine specific grievances raised by the 1991 batch of Civil Sub-Inspectors (SIs). Members of this batch are currently serving in senior positions as additional Superintendents of Police (SPs) and non-cadre IPS (NC) officers.

The dispute centers on objections from these additional SPs regarding the rectification of administrative anomalies. Specifically, they have challenged the adjustment of omitted inspector vacancies from the erstwhile Warangal Range.

These adjustments were incorporated into the rectified integrated statewide seniority list of inspectors of police (civil). This list was originally issued under the home department's Government Order (GO) Ms. No. 153, dated October 5, 2018.

DGP C.V. Anand stated that formal action will be taken based on the report submitted by the six-member committee. The panel is tasked with reviewing the vacancy adjustments in the Warangal Range alongside the broader seniority complaints to resolve the ongoing administrative feud within the Telangana police department.
