Devotees Across Hyderabad Celebrate Nag Panchami with Prayers and Fasting

Devotees across Hyderabad observed Nag Panchami on the fifth day of the Hindu month of Shravan, marking the traditional occasion with day-long fasts, visits to temples, and special prayers.
Throughout the day, worshippers visited temples and anthills across the city to perform pujas. Devotees made offerings of milk, honey, flowers, vermilion, and sweets to the idols of serpent deities. Prayers were offered to Nag Devta as people sought protection and prosperity for their families.
The Hindu festival honors wildlife and reflects an ancient ecological respect for living creatures. In Hindu tradition, snakes are closely associated with major deities, including Lord Shiva, who wears a serpent around his neck, and Lord Vishnu, who rests upon Sheshnag.
