Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka Highlights Agricultural Reforms in Khammam

On Friday, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka addressed the Rythu Ashirvada Sabha in Raghunadhapuram, Khammam district, emphasizing the Telangana government's commitment to the agricultural sector. Speaking to local farmers, Vikramarka declared that the Congress government considers agriculture to be more than just a vocation, describing it as our culture and lifestyle.

During the public meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister highlighted several key welfare schemes and financial investments aimed at strengthening the farming community. He announced that the government has credited approximately Rs 9,000 crore into the bank accounts of farmers within a span of nine days. This funding was distributed for the monsoon crop season under the Rythu Bharosa initiative.

Addressing critics of welfare spending, Vikramarka stated that the financial assistance should not be viewed as a freebie. Instead, he characterized the expenditure as an essential investment dedicated to the development and progress of farmers in Telangana.

In addition to direct cash transfers, Vikramarka detailed the government's substantial spending on power infrastructure for agriculture. He noted that the state government pays Rs 14,000 crore annually to power distribution companies (DISCOMS) to facilitate the supply of free electricity to farmers.

The Deputy Chief Minister also assured the gathering that the government is taking measures to protect farmers' incomes by ensuring the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for essential crops, specifically naming jowar and corn.
