Decomposed body on Pahadishareef Road suspected to be missing resident Mohd Awaiz Khan

A highly decomposed body, suspected to be that of a 24-year-old missing Bandlaguda resident, was discovered at an isolated spot on Pahadishareef Road on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Wednesday evening, July 1, 2026. The Hyderabad Police suspect the victim, identified as Mohd Awaiz Khan, was lured to the location and murdered by unidentified individuals.
The discovery was made on Wednesday after local residents noticed a strong, foul smell emanating from the area. Concerned by the odour, the locals alerted the police. A police team immediately rushed to Pahadishareef Road to conduct a search of the vicinity.
During their search of the isolated area, which is located close to the main road, officers discovered the body in a highly decomposed state. Near the spot where the body was found, police also located a vehicle.
Based on the details of this vehicle, investigators suspect that the deceased is Mohd Awaiz Khan. Khan, who is a 24-year-old resident of the Bandlaguda area, had been missing since Saturday, when he disappeared from the Mirchowk area of the Old City.
Following the recovery of the body, the police shifted it to a local mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
The Hyderabad Police have launched a full investigation into the incident. Officers are currently examining footage from surveillance cameras installed in the vicinity of Pahadishareef Road to track any suspicious movement and identify potential suspects.
The police suspect that the victim may have been lured to the isolated spot and subsequently murdered. Additionally, it has been learnt that a group of transgenders was allegedly indulging in immoral activities at this location during the night. The investigation is ongoing as police work to identify those responsible.
