Damaged Pipeline Disrupts Water Supply in Banjara Hills and Other Areas on Saturday

Residents of Banjara Hills and several neighboring areas in Hyderabad experienced a temporary disruption in their daily water supply on Saturday. The outage, which began on Saturday morning, was caused by damage to a major drinking water pipeline managed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB).

The disruption affected multiple key localities across the city. In addition to Banjara Hills, water supply was halted in Erragadda, SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Vengalraonagar, Yellareddyguda, Sanathnagar, Venkatagiri, BS Maktha, MS Maktha, and Somajiguda.

The cause of the sudden disruption was identified as a leak in the Godavari drinking water pipeline, which connects Lingampally to Banjara Hills. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board discovered the damage on the pipeline, prompting the temporary suspension of supply to prevent further water loss and facilitate necessary repairs.

During the period of the disruption, the HMWSSB made alternative arrangements to ensure residents in the affected areas had access to drinking water. The board deployed water tankers to deliver water directly to the neighborhoods of Banjara Hills, Erragadda, SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Vengalraonagar, Yellareddyguda, Sanathnagar, Venkatagiri, BS Maktha, MS Maktha, and Somajiguda.

The repair work continued throughout the day. The water supply was successfully resumed by Saturday evening once the pipeline damage was addressed.
