Cyberabad Traffic Police Catch 182 Motorists in Weekend Drunk-Driving Drive

The Cyberabad Traffic Police apprehended 182 motorists during a special drunk-driving enforcement drive conducted across the commissionerate limits over the weekend.

According to police officials, the vast majority of those caught during the enforcement operation were riding two-wheelers, accounting for 154 of the total 182 violators. In addition, 20 people were caught driving four-wheelers, seven were driving three-wheelers, and one offender was found operating a heavy vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

A breakdown of the breathalyser test results showed that 149 offenders registered a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) between 36 mg/100 ml and 200 mg/100 ml. Another 25 motorists had BAC levels ranging between 201 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml, while eight motorists recorded extremely high levels ranging between 301 mg/100 ml and 550 mg/100 ml.

Police confirmed that all 182 violators will be produced before the local courts for further legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, courts disposed of 308 previously registered drunk-driving cases between August 24 and August 29. Following hearings, 301 offenders were awarded monetary fines, seven individuals were sentenced to pay a fine along with performing community social service, and one person received a fine along with a prison sentence.
