Cyberabad Police Urge IT Firms to Overhaul Transport to Ease Traffic Jams

The Cyberabad Traffic Police have asked IT companies and commercial business establishments across Hyderabad to overhaul their employee transport and traffic management systems in an effort to alleviate worsening congestion along the city's IT corridors.

The recommendations were put forward during a dedicated stakeholder meeting organized by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) on Wednesday. The session was chaired by Sunpreet Singh, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Cyberabad, and attended by senior police officials alongside representatives from the IT sector.

During the meeting, police authorities identified several key causes behind the severe gridlock along the tech corridor. Primary bottlenecks included single-occupancy personal vehicles, heavily concentrated commuter movements during peak hours, and commercial cabs and auto-rickshaws parking directly outside office gates to pick up or drop off passengers.

To tackle these issues, police instructed companies to create internal pick-up and drop-off bays within their own campus boundaries. Establishing these internal zones is intended to stop commercial transport vehicles from taking up space on public roads and blocking passing traffic.

IT firms were also advised to implement staggered login and logout schedules for their staff. By spreading shift changes across wider time windows, authorities hope to prevent massive surges of traffic from hitting the roads simultaneously during peak hours.

In addition, the police pushed for structural changes in commuter habits. They urged tech companies to promote carpooling initiatives, reserve priority parking spaces for shared vehicles, and transition away from multiple low-occupancy shuttles operated by individual firms in favor of centralized corporate buses running from major residential clusters.
