Cyberabad Police Push for WFH and Staggered Timings to Tackle Monsoon Traffic

The Cyberabad Police have launched a comprehensive monsoon preparedness plan pushing for work-from-home arrangements and flexible office timings in the IT corridor, including Madhapur, Hitec City, and Kukatpally. Announced on June 3, 2026, the initiative aims to minimize waterlogging, mitigate monsoon traffic congestion, and ensure safer commuting for employees during heavy rainfall.
Under the new plan, police authorities are actively engaging with IT companies and major private organizations operating in these high-traffic sectors. They are encouraging employers to implement work-from-home (WFH) options, staggered office timings, carpooling, and increased usage of public transport during periods of heavy rains.
Kukatpally Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ritiraj stated that the department has been holding continuous discussions with the managements of various IT firms and organizations. Based on lessons learned from previous monsoon seasons, the department is focusing on field-level infrastructure improvements and reducing the volume of vehicles on the road during peak rainfall hours.
DCP Ritiraj noted that traffic disruptions during heavy rains often worsen because a large volume of office commuters travel simultaneously. By spreading out office timings and encouraging remote work where possible, the police hope to reduce congestion and improve emergency response during bad weather conditions.
The police department will also share weather-related alerts directly with corporate offices. During the monsoon season, the department plans to regularly provide updates on expected bad weather so companies can alert employees in advance, adjust reporting times, and prevent people from getting stranded on the roads. DCP Ritiraj noted that a majority of company managements have responded positively to these requests.
In addition to corporate coordination, Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh and municipal authorities have already conducted joint inspections of several flood-prone locations within the limits. The concerned departments have been directed to expedite desilting works, clear drainage channels, and undertake infrastructure improvements in identified hotspots before the onset of heavy rains.
