Cyberabad Police Finalise Traffic and Safety Plans for Hyderabad Marathon

Cyberabad Police and civic officials have put comprehensive traffic management and safety arrangements in place across Hitec City and surrounding corridors for the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon scheduled on August 29 and 30. Around 30,000 participants are expected to take part in the multi-category event.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sunpreet Singh, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation officials, and event organisers conducted a joint inspection on Monday to review the routes and operational readiness.
The main events on August 30 will conclude at G.M.C. Balayogi Stadium in Gachibowli. The 42-kilometre Full Marathon will flag off at 4.30 a.m. from People’s Plaza, entering Cyberabad commissionerate limits via the Cable Bridge. The route traverses Necklace Road, Raj Bhavan Road, Monorail Circle, Jubilee Check Post, Road No. 45, Filmnagar, Shaikpet, Narsingi, the Outer Ring Road junction, and Biodiversity before ending at the stadium. The Half Marathon follows a similar route, omitting the Necklace Road and stadium loops.
The 10K Run will start at 7.30 a.m. from Hitec City, passing Lemon Tree Junction and Biodiversity before terminating at Gachibowli Stadium. The weekend events kick off on August 29 with the Persons with Disabilities Race at 6.30 a.m., followed by the 5K Run featuring roughly 6,000 participants from HICC to Gachibowli and Novotel via Bio-Diversity.
Police officials highlighted crowd movement, starting points, and route mergers as key operational challenges. To maintain order, organisers will implement staggered wave starts, while marshals will be stationed along the route to prevent runners from stopping on flyovers and scenic stretches to take photographs or selfies. Authorities also urged runners to dispose of energy gels and water packets responsibly to avoid slipping hazards.
To facilitate transit, around 65 shuttle buses will ferry participants between designated drop-off points and the stadium. Random parking along active routes will be barred, and designated parking zones will be enforced. Additionally, app-based ride-hailing and food delivery platforms, including Ola, Uber, Rapido, Zomato, and Swiggy, will not be permitted inside active race corridors leading to the finish venue.
Municipal authorities are rectifying damaged stretches and potholes ahead of the runs. The Cyberabad Command and Control Centre will monitor the entire route, while safety vehicles and sanitation sweepers trail runners to ensure roads are progressively reopened once checkpoints are cleared.
