The case was officially registered on July 10, 2026, following a complaint by a man named Hanumantha Rao, who accused the director of failing to deliver on a promise to launch his son as a lead actor in a Telugu film.

According to the Cyberabad police, Hanumantha Rao and his family alleged that the director collected the substantial sum of Rs. 3.5 crore in multiple instalments. G Ashok Babu had reportedly assured the family that their son would be introduced as a hero in an upcoming Telugu movie project.

However, the complainant stated that the promised film was never produced.
