Cyberabad Police Ask IT Firms to Revamp Transport and Stagger Timings

The Cyberabad Traffic Police have called on IT companies and other business establishments located along the IT corridors in Hyderabad to overhaul their employee transport and traffic management practices to combat worsening congestion. The directives were issued during a stakeholder meeting chaired by Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sunpreet Singh on Wednesday.

Organised by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), the meeting brought together senior police officials and representatives from the IT sector to discuss actionable solutions to the growing traffic bottlenecks in the area.

Traffic authorities identified several key causes behind the worsening gridlock along the corridor. These included single-occupancy vehicles, concentrated employee movements during peak hours, and commercial cabs and auto-rickshaws waiting outside office gates.

To address these issues, police requested companies to build internal pick-up and drop-off bays within their premises to prevent commercial vehicles from occupying public roads. IT firms were also advised to introduce staggered login and logout timings to spread commuter traffic more evenly across peak hours.

In addition, the police recommended measures to promote shared transit. Companies were urged to incentivize carpooling by offering priority parking for shared vehicles and to replace low-occupancy shuttles run by individual companies with centralized corporate buses operating from major residential clusters.
