Cyberabad Police and IT Sector Plan Staggered Shifts to Decongest IT Corridor

Cyberabad Traffic Police and IT sector stakeholders have formulated a comprehensive action plan to decongest the city’s busy IT corridor and ensure smoother, safer commuting. The decision was taken during a joint collaborative meeting organized by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC), led by Cyberabad Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sunpreet Singh alongside senior officers, civic officials, law enforcement personnel, and corporate representatives.

The initiative comes as the tech precinct continues to experience rapid economic and employment growth, leading to heavy vehicular movement during peak hours. During the discussions, officials identified roadside bottlenecks caused by empty commercial cabs and autorickshaws parked outside corporate gates as a major contributor to daily traffic jams along public carriageways.

To resolve gate congestion, IT parks and corporate management have been advised to set up temporary, time-bound internal holding bays within their premises for employee pick-ups and drop-offs. This measure aims to keep primary public roads clear of stationary vehicles waiting for passengers.

Companies operating in the IT corridor were also urged to institutionalise carpooling among their workforce. Police suggested incentivising shared commutes by offering priority parking slots and utilizing route-matching data analytics to connect employees traveling along similar routes.

Furthermore, traffic authorities recommended moving toward centralised, origin-based corporate transport systems. Instead of multiple companies operating separate low-occupancy shuttles, neighbouring offices and commercial developers were asked to pool resources and run larger capacity buses connecting major residential clusters directly to IT parks.

To further reduce traffic surges, organisations were advised to adopt zone-wise or staggered login and logout timings, effectively spreading out commute times across peak hours. Campuses were also encouraged to train and deploy their existing security staff as Green Marshals to maintain gate discipline and assist with traffic management outside their facilities.

Cyberabad Traffic Police confirmed that regular follow-up reviews will be held over the coming weeks to track the progress and implementation of these mobility solutions. Authorities emphasized that proactive community-driven solutions and coordination between civic agencies, developers, and the IT industry remain vital to keeping the city a globally connected business hub.
