Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Bans New Weekly Markets in Residential Colonies

The Cyberabad Municipal Corporation has tightened regulations governing weekly markets operating in residential colonies across Hyderabad, barring the establishment of any new markets and introducing strict waste management rules for existing vendors.

The civic body stated that the restrictions have been introduced to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in residential neighbourhoods. Under the updated policy, no new weekly markets will be permitted to open in residential areas, while existing markets will be placed under regular surveillance by municipal field staff.

The corporation directed vegetable vendors operating in these markets to systematically collect and properly dispose of all waste generated at their stalls, including vegetable discards, plastic covers, and other refuse.

Municipal authorities emphasized that waste must not be dumped on roads, footpaths, or any surrounding public places.

During routine inspections, field personnel will penalise vendors who fail to comply. Any vendor found throwing waste onto roads or contributing to unhygienic conditions will be barred from operating during the following week, alongside facing any additional penalties permitted under municipal regulations.
