Cyber Crime Police Book Three For Defaming Banjara Hills UPSC Aspirant

The Cyber Crime Police in Hyderabad have registered a case against several individuals for allegedly circulating false and defamatory social media posts targeting Harshith Kaveti, a UPSC aspirant residing in Banjara Hills. The posts, which Kaveti discovered on July 12, 2026, falsely linked him to a criminal allegation by using his name and photographs, causing severe damage to his reputation and harassment to his family.

The accused suspects booked by the police have been identified as Rakesh, Tirupathi of TRTV, and Bhethi Mahender Reddy, alongside other unnamed individuals. The action followed a formal complaint lodged by Kaveti after he discovered the defamatory content circulating across various social media and digital platforms.

According to the complaint, the online videos and posts claimed that a person named "Harshith," described as the nephew of a Union Minister, had impregnated a woman belonging to the Scheduled Caste community who worked at his office in Manikonda. Because Kaveti is related to the Union Minister of State for Home, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and shares the same first name, his photographs were circulated online, leading people to believe he was the person referred to in the allegations.

Kaveti strongly denied the claims, clarifying that he has no office in Manikonda and has no connection whatsoever to the allegations. He stated that the false campaign has not only damaged his personal reputation and harassed his family, but has also adversely affected his preparation for the UPSC examination.

Additionally, Kaveti claimed that multiple people informed him that Bhethi Mahender Reddy and Tirupathi had been making active inquiries about him. He further stated that he possesses an audio recording of a conversation purportedly between the two suspects discussing plans to falsely implicate him while evading legal consequences.

Kaveti has urged the Cyber Crime Police to identify all individuals involved in the alleged conspiracy, ensure the immediate removal of the defamatory content from all social media platforms, and initiate strict criminal proceedings against the accused.
