Customs Hyderabad Urges Exporters to Adopt Digital Systems at FICCI Workshop

HYDERABAD — The Customs department has transitioned from a conventional duty collection agency into a trade facilitator, Additional Commissioner of Customs Hyderabad P Satish said while addressing regional entrepreneurs at an export awareness workshop in Hyderabad.

Speaking at the event organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) in association with the Warangal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Satish urged local exporters to make use of modernised, transparent customs procedures to expand their international reach.

Satish noted that nearly 90 percent of import consignments are currently facilitated seamlessly with zero interference, which he highlighted as a sign of the department's effort to create a frictionless business environment.

He stated that the adoption of advanced digital measures, including the E-sealing process and the E-way bill system for container movement, provides transparency across operations. These mechanisms enable real-time data monitoring, helping prevent tampering while accelerating cargo clearances for traders.

S Vijayalakshmi, Director at FICCI, addressed the gathering to emphasise the organization's role as the national issuing and guaranteeing association for both systems in India.

The workshop also focused on explaining the ATA Carnet and UN TIR systems, highlighting them as tools to enable smoother international trade operations.

During the session, Bommineni Ravinder Reddy, President of the Warangal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, pointed out the significant potential for agro-based exports from the region. He specifically highlighted the outward movement of commodities such as chilies and mangoes destined for Southeast Asian markets.
