CS Sanjay Jaju Directs Departments to Expedite Pending Railway Projects in Telangana

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Monday directed state government departments to work in close coordination with railway authorities to swiftly resolve pending issues concerning ongoing railway projects across Telangana.

Presiding over a review meeting at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat in Hyderabad, the Chief Secretary met with South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, Special Chief Secretaries Vikas Raj and Naveen Mittal, along with other senior officials. The meeting focused on assessing project progress, resolving bottlenecks in land acquisition, securing departmental administrative approvals, and ensuring timely state government support.

Officials informed the Chief Secretary that Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for 17 railway projects covering a total distance of 2,023 kilometres, with an estimated cost of Rs 50,870 crore, have been submitted to the Railway Board.

Emphasising that railway connectivity is crucial for Telangana's economic, industrial, and regional development, Jaju instructed departmental officials and District Collectors to expedite pending matters and adhere strictly to project timelines.

The review covered approximately 21 specific issues. These included the construction of railway underpasses and overbridges, building approach roads, road widening, railway line doubling, and improving public transport connectivity to the Charlapalli Railway Station. Senior departmental officials were directed to conduct joint site inspections alongside South Central Railway officials to implement practical solutions.

In line with directives from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, officials were instructed to draw up plans for railway network expansion across the Future City, Outer Ring Road (ORR), and Regional Ring Road (RRR) areas. Officials from the Municipal Administration, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), Revenue, Energy, and Roads & Buildings departments were asked to maintain continuous coordination to facilitate project execution.

The Chief Secretary also instructed departments to prepare comprehensive DPRs to secure central funding under the PM Gati Shakti initiative. These plans will cover the expansion of the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS), the development of new railway terminals along the ORR and RRR regions to meet Hyderabad's future transport needs, and land acquisition for prospective high-speed bullet train corridors.
