Criminal Case Sought Against Builders After Fatal Collapse in Gachibowli

Two workers died and three other people were injured on Saturday afternoon when an under-construction seven-storey building collapsed in Anjaiah Nagar, Gachibowli. Following the incident, municipal authorities moved to initiate legal action against the builders.

Assistant City Planner S. Habeebunnisa recommended registering a criminal case against builders Fareen Siddiq and Mohammed Sajid for constructing the illegal multi-storey structure in the area.

According to officials, the seven-storey building was being erected on a 50-square-yard plot situated over a nala before it gave way.

The deceased were identified as Umesh Khare and Mopath, both hailing from Madhya Pradesh. They were employed as tile workers at the construction site at the time of the collapse.

Three others sustained injuries in the incident, including a 25-year-old resident of the adjacent Jayadarsini Residency. The resident was asleep in his apartment when falling debris crashed onto him. He was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment along with the other injured individuals.
