Constable J Sai Kumar Dies by Suicide at LB Nagar ACP Office

A 25-year-old police constable died by suicide in the early hours of Wednesday at the LB Nagar ACP office in Hyderabad. The deceased officer, identified as J Sai Kumar from Manchal, left behind two letters addressed to senior officials stating that he was unhappy with his current duty assignment.

Sai Kumar, a 2024-batch constable, was previously posted with the blue-colts patrolling team at the LB Nagar police station. A fortnight ago, he was transferred to handle e-cops desk duties at the LB Nagar ACP office. In the letters left behind, he stated that he did not like his present posting and wanted to return to his previous duties at the LB Nagar police station.

The sequence of events unfolded late Tuesday night when the LB Nagar DCP office team tried to reach Sai Kumar at around midnight. They were attempting to contact him to collect the Daily Status Report (DSR) for the sub-division. When Sai Kumar did not respond to phone calls, the DCP office team contacted other night duty staff members to check on his location.

A head constable from the LB Nagar police station went to inspect the office premises and discovered Sai Kumar dead in the staff rest room at the ACP office at approximately 2:30 am on Wednesday. Alerted by the head constable, night duty staff immediately rushed the constable to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

Prior to the incident, Sai Kumar was residing at a men’s hostel in Karmanghat while preparing for Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examinations.

After news of the incident emerged, family members of the deceased constable gathered at the LB Nagar ACP office and staged a protest. The family demanded a complete explanation from senior police officials regarding why the young constable ended his life so abruptly.
