Constable Found Dead at LB Nagar Police Station, Family Alleges Foul Play

Tension prevailed at the LB Nagar police station in Hyderabad on Wednesday following the death of a 2024-batch police constable, who was found hanging on the police station premises. The deceased officer was identified as J Sai Kumar, a native of Manchal located in Rangareddy district.

Prior to his death, Sai Kumar had reportedly written a letter addressed to his senior officers, stating that he did not want to continue working in the police force. His father, Jarpula Bodhya, informed the police that his elder son, J Seval, works as an Armed Reserve constable, while Sai Kumar was posted at the LB Nagar police station.

Recounting the sequence of events, Bodhya stated that Seval called him at approximately 3:30 am to inform the family about Sai Kumar’s death at the Assistant Commissioner of Police office premises. Seval had initially proceeded to Kamineni Hospital after receiving information about his brother from a night-duty officer on shift. Following the call, family members rushed to the location.

Protesting against the authorities, the deceased constable's family members staged a demonstration and alleged foul play behind the death. The family raised several concerns regarding the circumstances of the incident, specifically pointing out that the CCTV cameras installed in the room were not functioning at the time. They also questioned the delay on the part of the police officials in handing over Sai Kumar’s personal mobile phone to them.

The family further alleged that Sai Kumar’s body was transferred to Osmania General Hospital for a postmortem examination without waiting for his relatives to arrive at the scene. In their allegations, family members also claimed that blood stains were discovered inside the room.

Following the protest and allegations raised by the family, the police registered a case regarding the incident. An official probe into the constable's death is currently underway.
