Congress MLAs and MLCs in Hyderabad Seek Konda Surekha Suspension

Congress MLAs and MLCs in Hyderabad Seek Konda Surekha Suspension

Around 20 Congress MLAs and MLCs in Hyderabad have demanded the suspension of Endowments and Environment Minister Konda Surekha over her alleged anti-party activities.

The demand for Surekha's suspension follows recent remarks made by her daughter, Sushmita, targeting Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The legislators strongly condemned Sushmita's comments and appealed to the party high command to intervene and penalise individuals whose public statements cause harm to the party.

Speaking at a press conference, the MLAs and MLCs challenged the minister's stance on the issue. They asserted that it is unacceptable for Surekha to claim she has no connection to her daughter's remarks, stating that if she truly had no involvement, she should openly condemn them.

The lawmakers noted that language used by the Konda family has repeatedly created difficulties for the organisation, warning that the Congress government would end up paying the price for such statements. They called on the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to initiate disciplinary measures against those making public allegations.

The legislators highlighted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his brothers worked hard to bring the Congress to power in the state. They stressed that speaking openly against the Chief Minister and the party in public forums is inappropriate, adding that any internal matters should strictly be addressed within Congress Legislature Party (CLP) and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) meetings.

The group concluded by warning that Sushmita's comments would only serve to strengthen the political opposition, reiterating their demand for strict action against anyone levelling false allegations.
