Congress Leaders Camp In Hyderabad To Lobby For SUDA Chairman Post

Congress party leaders have intensified their lobbying efforts in Hyderabad to secure the post of Satavahana Urban Development Authority (SUDA) chairman, with the state government expected to announce appointments to urban development authorities and corporations this month.
Several aspirants from Karimnagar have set up camp in the capital city of Hyderabad, seeking appointments with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to press their claims for the key civic administration role. The lobbying surge follows the end of the previous SUDA chairman Komatireddy Narender Reddy's tenure on July 8.
Komatireddy Narender Reddy is among the key contenders seeking reappointment. He has stated that he wants to continue in the role to complete various ongoing urban development works initiated during his term.
Other prominent aspirants vying for the position include Dr. V. Narender Reddy, owner of Alphores educational institutions, and Velchala Rajender Rao, the Karimnagar Assembly constituency in-charge. Dr. V. Narender Reddy, who joined the Congress party ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections and previously contested the MLC graduates' constituency, has been actively meeting with the party leadership. Meanwhile, supporters of Velchala Rajender Rao have highlighted his crucial role in the party's performance during the recent Karimnagar municipal corporation elections.
Additional aspirants in the fray include Akarapu Bhaskar Reddy, Rachakonda Chakradhar Rao, and Mallikarjuna Rajender.
To bolster their chances, the hopefuls are actively lobbying with ministers from the erstwhile Karimnagar district, including D. Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, and Adluri Laxman Kumar, as well as the in-charge minister Tummala Nageswara Rao. They are also trying to secure meetings with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy through his adviser, Vem Narender Reddy.
The SUDA chairman post is considered highly prestigious and strategically significant for the Congress party in the Karimnagar region, particularly because the party does not currently have a local MLA there. The authority is responsible for making critical decisions regarding urban development, infrastructure projects, and planning in Karimnagar town and its surrounding areas.
